Summer Camp Staff, 2016

Mary Norris

Ms. Mary received her CDA from ECTC and taught in Head Start for over a decade. The 2016-2017 school year is Ms. Mary’s 5th year at SJMCC.

Karen Massingill

Karen is the SJMCC Music Instructor and is the Director of the After School Program (ASC). She has lived in Tennesse, Indiana, California, New York, as well as Kentucky. She graduated with a BA in Christian Education from Bryan College in Dayton TN and has home-schooled her six children, helped run a Christian bookstore, taught drama to a home school theatre group and organized and taught in weekly and summer Bible Clubs.

Dr. Kathleen Filkins

Dr. Kathleen received her B.A. in biology and chemistry from Hendrix College, her M.S. in science education from the University of Iowa, and her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas. She finished her American Montessori Society certification and internship in the 2013-2014 school year.

Barbara Harvey

2016-2017 is Ms. Barbara’s 10th year teaching at SJMCC. She finished her AMS Certification with Montessori Opportunities in the 2013-2014 school year.

Elizabeth Pottinger

Coming from a family with five children, Elizabeth feels right at home teaching Montessori students. She attended Bluegrass Christian Academy through her 8th grade year. After that, she was homeschooled all the way through high school. She is currently a graduate searching for the right college to attend in the fall.

Kylen Burns

Kylen will be going into her junior year at Johnson University in Tennessee. Although she attends college in Tennessee, she is proud to call Kentucky her home. She is earning her degree in education and has a passion for teaching children, she is excited to be at Montessori for the summer.

Brittany Luckett

Brittany is enjoying her second year working summer camp because she always looks forward to learning about Montessori and teaching children about nature. She recently graduated from Western Kentucky University with her bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in criminology. While attending school, she worked as a substitute teacher for Bardstown, Nelson, and St. Joseph schools for 2 1/2 years. She just accepted a new career for the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office as a legal secretary. She will miss the kids and has been considering getting a master’s in interdisciplinary education to become a teacher one day.

Megan Limke

Megan is the SJMCC After School Care (ASC) Assistant Teacher as well as the Montessori Photographer and Web Designer. She attended Montessori during her preschool and kindergarten years, then proceeded to attend Bluegrass Christian Academy through 3rd grade. Since 4th grade, Megan has been homeschooled and will be going into her Senior year of High School this (2016-2017) school year.
