Multiplication Madness!

#FollowTheChildFriday - How old were you when you learned to multiply? Lachlan is only 6 years old and she is learning her multiplication tables! Montessori’s curriculum and materials are designed to give children a concrete, hands-on learning experience. As Lachlan works with the Multiplication Bead Board, she is able to see the process of multiplication unfold before her eyes and be an active part of the process through manipulation. This process helps her connect to the abstract idea that multiplication is simply an addition of the same number. Lachlan has mastered multiplication tables of one, two, and three. She is currently working on four. She will continue to use this process to learn multiplication tables all the way up to ten. We are always amazed to see what a child can accomplish when we follow their interests, desires, and abilities!
